SSNIT PENSION SCHEME TRANSPARENT LACK TRANSPARENCY

By Vera Dorgbefu Human Resource Manager, Registrar General, Mr. Ken Ampadu Akuamoah , who has been working at the office of the Registrar General department for four years now has shared his knowledge on the SSNIT Pension Scheme and how transparent it is. He explained that the SSNIT pension scheme is available for both public and private workers. According to him, upon receiving his pay slip every month, there's an indication that an amount of money or percentage has been taken by SSNIT, but the exact amount taken is not shown. Which leaves him unaware of the percentage or specific amount of money that SSNIT deducts from his salary which makes him also not pay attention on whether it has been taken or not. He stated how he has heard people after retirement chasing SSNIT for their monies though he has not experienced that yet because he is still at the office. He then again stated that in as much as he is unaware of the amount taken, he would definitely save for his pension at SSNIT...

CAP 30: A RELIABLE PENSION SCHEME FOR SERVICE PERSONNEL

CAP 30 which he basically understands to be the pension trust fund for them, prepares them to have an easy after-work experience. Administered by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), CAP 30 is a pension scheme in Ghana that provides security persons with a guaranteed benefit after serving the country for a number of years. This is done by the public servants contributing 5% of their monthly salary while the government contributes 12.5%. "I think CAP 30 is reliable enough and I would prefer it to SSNIT or any other pension scheme. He added that he believes it is reliable because during years in service, he has never for once heard anyone complains about having a problem with their benefits after retirement.
